Blake Lively Hired a Key Witness From Gwyneth Paltrow’s Ski Crash Trial for Her New Ad

This is how you use satire to sell a beverage. As her husband Ryan Reynolds did when he got Depressed Peloton Wife to appear in an ad for Aviation Gin, Blake Lively has enlisted another viral micro-celeb in the latest ad for her line of sparkling beverages, Betty Buzz. (TBT, “You’re safe here.”)
In a 40-second spot, we get “expert testimony” about why the fizzy drinks are the best in the game. And the expert is none other than Irving Scher, PhD, whose stick figure whiteboard drawings captured the internet’s attention when he testified about the laws of physics at Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski crash trial. Dr. Scher is technically a biomechanical engineer, but he’s also an amateur fizz-icist (yes, I got that joke from the press release…because I love it), so we can totally trust him on this.
He’s…not wrong! When you drink, it does go down into your stomach, which is consistent with the laws of physics. As Lively says in her voiceover, case closed.
In case you need a refresher…reach for a sparkling refreshment! Ha, okay, sorry, no, if you need a refresher on who this guy is, here he is doing Actual Math at the trial…
